Junior High- Lindsey Pippen Week 8

1. Develop strategies for funding.

Goal 1: Provide supporting resources - software, hardware, outsourced services and learning materials to ensure successful and effective uses of technology.

Goal 3: To ensure that all students, professional educators and support staff have increased access to technology.

Funding Strategies for Goal 1 and 3:

Erate reimbursements would be used to fund the software and hardware improvements of the district as needed. Erate reimbursements are given to schools and libraries that competitively bid all eligible services on the SLD website and after a minimum of 28 days, select the most cost effective proposal. “E-Rate discounts are then requested by applying to the SLD and if discounts are approved, they are provided to schools and libraries via directly discounted bills, or reimbursement process after services have been provided” (Erate, n.d.).

Another part of the funding would come from local funds that are set aside in the budget.

Goal 2: To improve the capacity of all teachers to effectively integrate technology into curriculum and instruction.

Funding Strategies:

Use the partnership with Region 12 to attend trainings free of charge. If needed local funds can be used to send teachers to trainings or have the trainer come to the campus. Campus technology facilitators can locate trainings that are free of cost to attend that specialize in technology integration.

2. Develop strategies for management plans.

Goal 1: Provide supporting resources - software, hardware, outsourced services and learning materials to ensure successful and effective uses of technology.

Goal 3: To ensure that all students, professional educators and support staff have increased access to technology.

Management Plan:

·         Needs Assessment given to teachers and administrators

·         Analyzing STaR Chart results

·         Online checkout of computer labs and iPads monitored by the technology director or campus facilitator by using Eduphoria

·         District technology director locating and securing grants

·         Apply for Erate discount

Goal 2: To improve the capacity of all teachers to effectively integrate technology into curriculum and instruction.

Management Plan:

·         Attend Region 12 Trainings

·         Attend District trainings

·         Campus technology facilitator or principal assigns technology mentors to new and existing teachers

·         Campus principal analyzes the Needs Assessment

·         Campus facilitator makes sure teachers know and apply the ISTE Nets

3. Describe the required procedures for the proposed strategies.

1. The campus administrators, technology facilitators, and district technology director need to meet and collaborate with each other about the technology needs of each campus. The needs include anything from hardware to teacher trainings.

2. Technology facilitators are knowledgeable about the ISTE Nets and have time to train teachers in how to apply them in their classrooms.

3. Inform teachers of partnership with Region 12 that allows for free trainings.

4. Technology director and facilitators meet and discuss funding and how to apply local funds and Erate discounts. They also try and locate grants that can help supplement local funds and Erate discounts.

  1. You stated that there would be provided the needed software, hardware, outsourced services and learning materials to ensure successful and effective uses of technology. Who would decide what type of software, hardware, outsourced services and learning materials needed for the teachers? Would there be a committe per each school? Would the district technology specialist choose the software for the schools?

  2. The district technology director would send out a survey to each campus. The campus teachers and administrators would basically decide what their needs are and then report them back to the technology director.

  3. We take a survey also. I do not think it gets looked at much. Our main software like e-mail, open-office, and Eduphoria is a district wide software that we use.
